You show a screw, a nut and a small padlock, and let your audience thoroughly examine all three parts. You now borrow a finger ring from a spectator's finger ring and place it on the screw, after which the nut is screwed back and seals the ring. Then put the small padlock through a hole at the end of the screw. No one can doubt that the ring is securely locked.
You now cover the whole thing with a scarf. You show your hands empty before bringing them up under the scarf. After a short moment, you can take out the spectator's finger ring, and then the screw, which still has the nut and padlock attached exactly as before! After this, everything can be examined.
