Here is a genuine rarity from one of magic’s most creative inventors, Lubor Fiedler. An effect dating all the way back to the 1960s, long since sold out – and one that, by a stroke of luck, we have managed to find in a small quantity at an old-established magic dealer in Germany.
On the table are two cone-shaped containers with lids. The spectator is given an ordinary die and rolls it. Or, to make things even fairer: He can simply choose which number he wants facing upwards.
The spectator lifts the lid from the first container. Inside is another die – showing exactly the same number!
A truly perfect prediction.
But it doesn’t stop there. The spectator turns his own die over, bringing a new number to the top. He then lifts the lid from the second container. Inside is another die – and, of course, it shows the new number.
Two seemingly impossible predictions in succession – and afterwards, the props can immediately be examined.
A Lubor Fiedler classic
The effect was marketed as early as 1966, and Lubor Fiedler himself was extremely enthusiastic about it, stating that none of his previous ideas had ever been realised so successfully. He also particularly appreciated the fact that the effect could be performed using ordinary, ungimmicked dice.
Thirty years later, the effect was revisited in the German magic magazine Magische Welt, where Klaus-Jörg Dickow shared his thoughts, experiences and new ideas regarding the effect. These are also included as a bonus with our accompanying instructions.
Today, original Lubor Fiedler magic props are highly sought after by both magicians and collectors, and Perfekte Würfelvoraussage, internationally known as Double Dice Prediction, has been completely off the market for many years. But by pure chance, we discovered a small batch at a German magic dealer – complete and unused from back in the day. Once these are gone, we do not expect to be able to find any more.
It is worth noting that the effect requires calm surroundings and a focused presentation. In other words, this is not a trick for a noisy cocktail party. But when performed correctly, it is absolutely baffling to an audience. If that sounds like your kind of magic, this is a true gem to add to your repertoire.
