Psychic Escape – A Classic Returns
Psychic Escape is a rare combination of mentalism and a penetration effect. It is easy and fun to perform, creating a powerful and inexplicable moment right before your audience’s eyes.
The effect begins with the performer displaying a beautiful brass cylinder along with five brass chips in different colors. The chips are placed on the table with their colored sides hidden, and a spectator freely selects one. The spectator looks at the color and shows it to the rest of the audience while the performer turns away or otherwise has no chance of seeing the selection.
The chosen chip is returned to the others, and all five chips are thoroughly mixed. They are then placed into the brass cylinder with the colored sides facing down, and the lid is secured. A cord with a brass rod attached is pushed through the cylinder and through all five chips, threading both the cylinder and the chips onto the cord.
Only now does the spectator reveal the chosen color.
After a magical gesture, the cylinder is opened. One single chip falls free – the very chip selected by the spectator! The remaining four chips are still threaded securely on the cord together with the cylinder!
The effect appears completely impossible to explain, and the props can be examined immediately after the performance.
This is an effect with a history. Back in the 1990s, we sold hundreds of the Japanese version of Psychic Escape through our magic shop in the centre of Horsens, Denmark. Since then, countless copies have appeared, but this classic is finally back in a beautifully crafted and well-made version, manufactured in Germany.
