A classic returns: The Original Raven
The Raven has a special place in Pegani's history. We first put it on our shelves back in 1994 – as item no. 190 – and went on to sell hundreds of them over the following decades. It became a modern classic in magic, helped along by David Blaine performing it in his first TV special, Street Magic.
For a few years, The Raven has been absent from our range, but the requests have never really stopped. So we have decided to bring it back and let a new generation of magicians discover this clever and highly visual method.
Show a coin and place it in your hand – or, for example, on a spectator's hand. Slowly wave your other hand over the coin with your fingers visibly open, and the coin simply vanishes before their eyes. No fast or suspicious moves, and your hands can immediately be shown empty.
And The Raven is capable of much more than making coins disappear. The principle can be used for productions, transformations and vanishes with a variety of small objects. Change one coin into another, turn a regular coin into a miniature coin, or explore possibilities with bills, matchboxes, playing cards and more.
Part of the reason The Raven became so popular is the combination of a remarkably clean visual effect and a method that requires no advanced sleight of hand. Naturally, a little practice is needed to make the handling and timing look completely natural, but the clever principle does most of the work.
And yes – you really can perform it in short sleeves.
