This modern reimagining eliminates the typical drawbacks seen in many versions on the market: awkward-looking chairs, suspicious handling, and props that clearly look like “magic apparatus.” Instead, this version delivers a clean, logical and highly deceptive performance piece.
The method has been completely re-engineered for maximum strength, reliability, and visual appeal. The secret is cleverly concealed within ordinary wooden folding chairs that look completely innocent – so natural they can be used throughout your show without raising suspicion. The traditional board has been replaced with a ladder, offering the same functionality while appearing completely ungimmicked, enhancing the illusion of spontaneity.
The result is a stunning and impossible moment:
A spectator is invited on stage, laid across a ladder supported by two chairs, and covered with a cloth. One chair is removed – leaving them impossibly balanced. Then, at the climax, the ladder is removed, and the spectator remains suspended, supported only at the shoulders by the back of a single chair. A breathtaking visual that never fails to amaze.
