The Effect:
A card is freely selected and signed on the face – no force. You explain that cheating gamblers sometimes mark certain cards. Not on the face, of course, as the spectator has just done – that would be far too obvious. Instead, they might subtly mark the back of a card with a slight bend or crease, making it easier to locate later.
You turn over their signed card and bend it slightly to demonstrate. But suddenly, you stop – almost embarrassed. You’ve clearly overdone it! A very noticeable white crease has appeared across the back of the card. Not exactly a subtle marking...
Now you ask everyone to watch closely, because what happens next looks more like a special effect than a magic trick.
With a gentle shake, the white crease visibly disappears. Right before their eyes, you “heal” the back of the card and restore it to normal!
Immediately, you turn the card over to show that the spectator’s signature is still there. The card can then be handed out as a souvenir of a truly visual and magical experience.
