Here's a children's routine that could become the perfect solution when it's time to refresh your kids' show. Many years ago we stocked something similar, but this version, which we discovered in Germany, is larger, more attractive, and packed with even more magical moments.
You're about to perform some magic and proudly produce what appears to be a magic wand. The only problem? It's actually a square wooden stick! You wave it enthusiastically through the air, but nothing happens. What's wrong? The children immediately know the answer: "That's not a real magic wand!"
Fortunately, you've just acquired a genuine Magic Wand Machine. You bring out this wonderfully quirky, inventor-style contraption, open it, and clearly show that it's completely empty inside. The square stick is placed into the machine. You (or a spectator) turn the large, noisy handle, and when the wand is removed, it has magically become perfectly round!
But according to the children, it's still not quite right. A real magic wand has to be black...
The routine continues as the wand magically changes again and again. First it turns completely black, then completely white, then striped, then spotted, and finally even inside out, until it eventually becomes the perfect magic wand and you're finally ready to continue with your show.
Use it as a hilarious opening routine, as a feature in the middle of your performance, or even as a running gag, returning to the machine throughout the show as you keep trying to create the perfect magic wand. At any point, you can open the machine and prove that it is completely empty inside!
