The Parlour Deck is finally back!
Card magic for a larger audience.
Many magicians have been waiting for the Phoenix Parlour Deck to return – and now a new production is finally available.
Standard poker-size cards are ideal for close-up magic, but when your audience grows to 100 or 200 people, visibility quickly becomes a problem. Jumbo cards solve that issue, but at the cost of many of the familiar techniques we use in card magic.
The Phoenix Parlour Deck offers a very practical compromise.
Measuring 75 × 100 mm (3″ × 4″), the cards are noticeably larger than standard poker cards (63 × 88 mm), making them much easier to see from a distance. Yet they still look and handle like proper playing cards rather than oversized stage props.
This makes it possible to perform classic card magic for a larger audience without relying on a camera or screen.
Large enough to see – small enough to handle
The Parlour format was carefully chosen to provide better visibility while still allowing you to use many familiar card techniques.
Double lifts, counts, forces, false shuffles, Faros and many other moves can be adapted to the larger format. Naturally, the cards feel bigger at first, but most card workers will quickly become comfortable with them.
There is even an interesting bonus to practising with Parlour cards: when you return to a regular poker deck, the cards suddenly feel remarkably small and light in your hands.
Designed to be seen
Good visibility is about more than simply enlarging the index. From a distance, the overall face design also plays an important role in recognising a card.
The Parlour Deck therefore features a highly visible 31 mm index, while the centre pips and court cards retain the familiar proportions of standard playing cards. The result is a deck that can be recognised more easily from a distance without losing the appearance of a normal deck.

More than just a larger deck
The real strength of the Parlour format is that it has developed into a complete system. Alongside the regular decks, you can find trick decks, gaff cards and special effects in Parlour size, making it possible to adapt much more of your existing card repertoire for larger audiences.
The idea is simple: card magic shouldn't have to stop at the close-up table.
