The art of pushing a long needle through a balloon is a visually striking (and slightly nerve-wracking) stage effect.
However, transporting a long needle to shows has always been a bit of a hassle. It doesn’t fit in a regular bag, and at the same time it’s important that it doesn’t get bent or accidentally poke through anything. JL Magic has now solved this challenge with this excellent giant needle, which can be taken apart into three pieces and transported in a short plastic tube. It can then be assembled in seconds before the performance.
You can choose whether to use two sections, giving the needle a length of 40 cm, or all three sections, creating a 60 cm long giant sewing needle.
The needle is so sharp that it slides straight through transparent balloons when inserted near the neck and the base. You can optionally thread a red string through the eye of the needle, making it look as if you are sewing through the balloon. Afterwards, you can toss it into the air and pop it.
The needle is made of stainless steel and comes with a link to instructions. We include a pack of 12 special 14" balloons from Cattex, which we recommend for this effect. They can reach up to 35 cm in diameter, but if you inflate them slightly less, you get a softer and more “solid” balloon.
