It was Billy McComb who immortalized this version of the color-changing silk. Here you have the original item, produced by Viking Magic in the USA with permission from Billy McComb himself. Included in the package is the script for the exact presentation Billy used right up until his passing. Watch — or rewatch — his entertaining routine in the video.
The magician pushes a white silk handkerchief into his hand, and when it emerges on the other side, it has turned red. He offers to break all the rules and reveal how it’s done. The audience leans forward eagerly as the magician demonstrates that he actually uses two handkerchiefs and explains how the trick supposedly works. In reality, however, no secrets are revealed at all — and only partway through the explanation do spectators realize they’ve been fooled, though in a thoroughly entertaining way.
At one point in the routine, the magician shows that the silk has become half red and half white, but he continues by explaining that this is, of course, to be avoided — whereupon he magically restores it to a solid color.
A classic that works beautifully in any program — especially for adult audiences.
We’re proud to offer the original version, complete with everything you need: silks (40 x 40 cm), the magnetic gimmick developed by Billy McComb, and of course, the original routine — word for word.
