Santini from Norway has come up with a truly brilliant idea. With technical ingenuity, he has built an electronic card fountain into an ordinary toaster!
The comedic magician will immediately see the possibilities in this “everyday prop.” Santini himself has great success with the following routine:
The magician brings out a deck of cards. He removes the cards from the box, which he then hands to a spectator while explaining that the spectator may keep the cards as a souvenir—if they are willing to help pick them up in case any cards should fall on the floor(!). The spectator then selects a random card from the deck. It is shown to the audience and then shuffled back into the pack. Now, “THE MAGIC TOASTER” is introduced...
The magician places the cards into it and explains that he will attempt to catch the selected card when the deck is launched. The toaster is switched on. The audience shouts “Hocus Pocus,” and suddenly the cards shoot up from the toaster in a high cascade. The magician reaches into the flying cards and catches a single one—of course, the spectator’s chosen card!
As agreed, the spectator helps pick up the cards and is rewarded with a big round of applause—and gets to take the deck home.
THE MAGIC TOASTER is also well suited for use together with the classic “card sword” or similar effects.
