You display six identical marker pens. Five of them are completely dry and won't write – but one works perfectly.
The pens are mixed, and six spectators each take one. One by one, they freely hand their pens to you. Each time, you take the risk and run the marker across your face, your tie, your shirt, a valuable object – or perhaps even a volunteer. The tension builds with every round until the final marker is revealed to be the only one that actually writes.
The effect combines genuine suspense with plenty of comedy, and you decide how to present it. Play it as a light-hearted comedy routine or as a more serious, dramatic demonstration.
