The magician displays a vase bearing a Chinese symbol and explains that it contains a genuine Chinese spirit… To prove his claim, he lowers a piece of rope into the vase and commands the spirit to grab hold of it. And sure enough — he can now release the vase, which remains suspended from the rope! The magician can even swing the rope around; the Chinese spirit holds on remarkably well, until it is commanded to let go, at which point the rope is instantly released from the vase.
Both the vase and the rope can then be handed out for examination by the audience, who will be unable to find any trace of the Chinese spirit or to replicate the trick.
Supplied complete with vase, rope, secret gimmick, and Danish instructions. And despite appearances, it doesn’t actually come from China — but from Sakskøbing in Denmark. Easy to perform.
