This is one of the great simple tricks in magic. Good enough for a beginner to learn and present in a few minutes, but strong enough for the working professional to use on stage in hundreds of paid shows.

The performer shows a white shoelace and pulls it through his hand, where it emerges to black. When audience members suspiciously point to the performer's closed fist, he opens the hand only to reveal a red shoelace inside! The magicianthen reproduces the white lace form one of his poickets - on on his shoe.
